Over 100 senior executives from banks, consumer goods companies and NGOs attended the Banking Environment Initiative Forum in Hong Kong. The event was organised by Adaugeo Media on behalf of the University of Cambridge. Adaugeo Media ran the first BEI Forum in London in 2012 and, since then, has been working on sponsorship, marketing and event planning for the 2014 event. The headline sponsor for this year's event was Barclays, whose CEO, Antony Jenkins, opened the conference. Adaugeo also brought in Northern Trust, Westpac and Wilmar as sponsors. 'We began working with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) in 2012, when they first thought of running a conference', says Mike Hewitt, managing director of Adaugeo Media. 'We were able to finance the conference by securing sponsorship, but also to handle marketing and offer a full event management service. We worked closely with CISL, who recruited the speakers, to ensure the event met their objectives but was entirely self-funding' The event took place at Hong Kong's JW Marriott hotel, with a networking drinks reception at the adjacent Sky Lounge.
