Networking event for Capital Markets Consulting

Adaugeo Media was asked to build a ‘thought leadership network’ for CMC, a specialist consultancy in the field of financial regulatory change. We developed The Forum for Regulatory Change which, after six months, had engaged with over 550 people in the very specialist field of regulatory data through a regular newsletter, a microsite and the first in a series of webinars.

A year into the programme we went a step further when we organised the first ever networking event for CMC. Our aim was to bring together between 12 and 20 senior executives of global banks, all of whom should have responsibility for leading data management programmes to deal with changing financial regulation.
To find the right people we allied with an existing industry event, FIMA, but we knew that the people we needed were unlikely to respond to a mass e-mail. Instead, we worked with CMC to identify the roles within banks most likely to have this responsibility and asked people we knew to recommend others who might wish to attend. The research process went through over 200 names to identify the right 15.

Then, we selected a venue to inspire their interest: the wartime command bunker used by Sir Winston Churchill in World War Two, which has been preserved as it was on the day war ended.

Attendees had a private tour of the War Rooms followed by dinner in one of the bunker’s larger rooms. Menus were in the form of wartime ration books and every attendee received a book of Churchill’s wit and wisdom. Representative of CMC were able to mix with potential clients in a relaxed, informal environment.

"Adaugeo Media organised this event as part of a wider programme of webinars, e-newsletters and networking.

"They handled everything from identifying and inviting the right guests to choosing a great venue and managing both the evening itself and the follow-up contacts.

"We especially appreciated the consultative approach to planning the event, allowing CMC to get precisely what had envisaged from it. We are now working on a multi-million project with a global bank as a direct result of the contact we made with them through this event. "

Steve Wyer,
Managing Director,
Capital Markets Consulting

Everyone who accepted an invitation went on to attend the event, and the 15 guests included senior figures from BNP Paribas, Blackrock, J.P.Morgan, HSBC, Lloyds Bank, Commerzbank, RBC and Barclays, with titles such as Head of Global Market Data Strategy, Head of Data Governance and Analytics, Global Head of Entity Data Quality and Executive Director, Global Market Infrastructures.

All those who attended expressed their enjoyment of the event and have remained in touch through newsletters and one global bank at the dinner, which was introduced to CMC  through Adaugeo Media’s marketing, became a multi-million pound client.
